Whenever we discuss about skin care or skin problems, acne & pimples are the most common issues we complain about.
It's such a common problem between everyone, be it teenagers or adults yet very different reasons can come up that lead up to these skin problems.

Before we start, checkout my other blogs...

Acne is a skin condition which occurs when hair follicles are plugged or blocked with oil or dead cells or bacteria.
It causes blackheads, pimples, & whiteheads.
It mainly appears on areas like face, forehead, back, neck and chest.

Pimple, as stated above is one of the kinds of acne. It occurs when the skin pores are blocked.

  • bacteria
  • hair follicles clogged by dead skin cells or oil
  • excess production of oil (sebum)
  • due to hormonal changes
  •  diet (some food that might cause breakouts )
  •  stress
  • some medications
  •  menstruation
  •  or, any other reason that I may not have mentioned

1.  Know the cause
You must know the reason behind your breakouts.
Once you find out the reason, it might get easy for you to prevent further breakouts.
For example, if its a specific food item you eat that causes acne or stress is the reason or oily skin..
Know the reason so that you can work on it!

2. Keep your tools clean
Be it your makeup brush, sponges, or any other tools that you use on your skin, keep those clean always. Wash them after every use as you are going to use it again on your skin and it might have some dirt or bacteria on it that might cause skin problems.

3. No touching
That is the most important tip for all! You should always avoid touching those pimples as it can make your skin more prone to breakouts because it may spread bacteria quite easily.

4. No popping
You might think that it's way to easy to just pop the pimples rather than letting it naturally heal, but, this leave an acne scar on your skin and also delay your body's natural healing system.
Popping may also cause the bacteria & the pus to infect the other pores that are surrounding the infected area resulting with more pimples.
So just say no popping!!

5. Wash your face
If you have oily skin, dry skin or a neural one you must wash your face at least twice a day. You must keep your skin clean. Don't wash your face more often as you might loose the natural moisture of your skin but just make sure to keep it clean.

6. Don't be too harsh
Even if you have any skin problems or not, you must always be gentle on your skin. While washing, scrubing, wiping your face be gentle. Rubbing your face too hard or harshly applying or wiping out any products can cause irritation.

7. Use the right product
This is the point I mention in many of my blogs.
There is a difference between the products made for people with oily skin type and people with dry skin type and people with normal skin type, so use the products that are made for your skin type as they are made for working on the problems that your skin type commonly has.

8. Stay hydrated
Drinking water solves so many issues that we face. When it comes to preventing breakouts drinking water must be on the top of your list. Drinking water helps your digestive system flush out toxins from your body and promotes skin hydration that will help in improving your skin health and let it glow.

9. Less is more (makeup)
If you have acne issues or other skin problem, try to avoid using makeup. If you can go without makeup then it might help a lot as in many cases the skin problems are due to blocking the skin pores and not wearing any makeup might heal the skin fast.
If you still have to wear makeup try to use it as minimum as possible.

10. Less is more (products)
Not just makeup, but even the products you use should be used in a limit.
For example.. you should always moisturise your face but don't use the product too much that it shows up on your face all greasy as it might result in more acne or pimples.

11. Keep your hair clean
If you don't keep your hair clean the excess oil in the hair might come up on skin that may result in breakouts and skin problems. The dirty hair also consists of oils and excess of hair products that can cause breakouts more often. Wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week to keep it clean and prevent further breakouts.

12. Sun exposure
Going out in the sun too often and too much dries the skin out and that causes excess production of sebum (much more than the actual amount needed) and hence causes acne or pimples.
So limit your exposure in sun and also never forget to apply sunscreen with SPF.

If the problem still persists, do talk to the experts and work with the treatments given to you.
Also never forget to keep an eye on your diet as eating healthy has many benefits not just for your body, but also for your skin.

  1. Mine I think is due to hormones! I hate it. I've been trying to drink more water, and wash it more often, and that seems to help a little.

  2. Blemish clearing serum dermalmd Has helped with some of the inflammation from my hormonal pimples. I can sense it works when sprayed on and the didn’t stay inflated as long as they use to be the use of now approximately a month.
